Michael Moore is coming to Markham
by Donald Wiedman, for Recycling Council of Ontario
TORONTO, April 13, 2005 – The Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) is pleased to announce the signing of Academy Award winner Michael Moore as keynote speaker for its upcoming May 4, 5 and 6 spring conference in Markham. On Wednesday, May 5, at 9:30 am, Moore will deliver the keynote address to delegates attending the RCO annual conference.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to involve Mr. Moore in this year’s event,” says Jo-Anne St. Godard, Executive Director of the RCO. “He promises to bring an interesting and most definitely controversial perspective to the issues of waste and the environment. Considering as well that Mr. Moore hails from Michigan, delegates – including Ontario Minister of the Environment Leona Dombrowsky – are assured a presentation like no other.”
The RCO Conference takes place from May 4 to 6 at the Hilton Suites Toronto/Markham Conference Center and Spa in Markham. Conference sessions will focus on current waste issues facing Ontario and Canada including importing/exporting waste across international borders, the Ontario landfill crisis, the viability of thermal energy from waste incineration, and the recent introduction to Ontario of legislation regulating consumer product producers to pay a share of the cost of recycling the packaging of the products they sell in Ontario.
The general public can register for a half day, full day or the entire conference by going on-line to www.rco.on.ca, or by calling (416) 657-2797.
